About Chickenmethod and Me

Peep Peep – How are you?

I’m Dave. We’re going to discuss chickens on this site. I like ’em. They are givers.

I Like Chickens

I was born on a farm in Upstate New York. It was a typical dairy of the time, with cows, pigs, chickens, and even a horse named Golden Girl. My parents sold it when I was very young, but I still have great memories of the farm, and I guess there’s a little of that farm still in me.

Several years ago, a friend and I bought a few baby chicks to raise for fun and to get a few eggs. We didn’t sell the eggs, but we did give many away. Waiting anxiously for the first eggs to drop can seem like an eternity. When they do come, every morning is like a treasure hunt. Having a flock reward you with one of nature’s most perfect foods daily is gratifying.

I currently keep a small flock—a few Rhode Island reds, light Brahmas, Araucanian, and Easter Eggers. I’m getting three different-colored eggs—brown, blue, and green (there is also a bantam that occasionally throws in a tiny white one).

My girls free-range, and I feed them organic pellets. People seem to like the idea of organic, and I don’t mind the extra few dollars for the feed—I like my birds.

It Can Be Hard To Find Information – I Can Help

When I started incubating eggs, I had a few questions I couldn’t answer quickly enough. I don’t mind research, but I prefer to be a doer. So I found my answers and thought, I’ll bet there are others out there that would like a concise, no frills, no bull, one-stop website to answer almost any question that a beginning ‘chickeneer’ might have.

This site is for you to answer your start-up questions, such as what a good incubator is, the right temperature to incubate, the right humidity, the right brooder, and so on, ad infinitum.

Of course, no one knows everything, but I’ll do my best to include the most current information on this site.

Build Your Own Flock

The goal of this site is to give you all the information you need in one place to allow you to start your own chicken flock.

Once you get your flock off the ground, you will want to keep them happy and healthy so that you can enjoy what they have to offer. You will find that information here, too.

That’s a little about me and what I want for you. I know you want to get at it, so let’s get going…

If you need help or have any questions, please contact me. I’m more than happy to help. Also, if you want to discover how I built this website and how you could build your own passive income site, click here.

All the best,

Dave
